Build the Sentence: 5 Words – Everyday 12

This free printable sentence building worksheet gives kindergarten and first grade kids practice putting five scrambled words in the correct order. Kids rearrange the words “cat,” “me,” “the,” “on,” and “sleeps” to make “The cat sleeps on me,” then write the completed sentence on the blank writing line. Afterward, they can draw a cozy cat sleeping on someone in the large drawing box.

Five-word sentence scrambles give beginning readers practice with word order, sentence structure, reading, and writing using short sentences about familiar everyday experiences. This page also helps kids work out how the words “on me” fit into the sentence to explain where the cat is sleeping. Drawing a matching picture adds a fun way to show what the finished sentence means. This no-cut printable is easy to use for homeschool, kindergarten or first grade practice at home, summer learning, or extra sentence building and writing practice.
