This free printable read-and-draw activity helps Pre-K and kindergarten children practice understanding a simple sentence through visualization. Children read “A bird flies.” and then illustrate the sentence, translating the words on the page into an action they can picture and draw for themselves.
For beginning readers, creating a picture from a sentence can reinforce the connection between reading individual words and understanding the complete idea those words communicate. This preschool and kindergarten reading comprehension worksheet keeps the text short and familiar while giving children plenty of space to respond creatively. Use it for free reading practice at home, during homeschool lessons, or whenever a quick literacy activity fits into the day.
