Turn a simple sentence into a picture with this free printable reading comprehension worksheet for Pre-K and kindergarten. Children read “The child waves.” and decide how to illustrate the action. They might draw someone waving hello, saying goodbye, greeting a friend, or simply waving from across the room, giving them several ways to show the same basic sentence.
Choosing the details of the scene encourages children to think about what they have read instead of copying a predetermined picture. The read-and-draw format keeps the response accessible for beginning readers while providing practice with sentence meaning, visualization, and comprehension. This free early reading worksheet can be used at home, for homeschool practice, or alongside other kindergarten and preschool literacy activities.
