Build the Sentence: 5 Words – Everyday 16

This free printable sentence building worksheet gives kindergarten and first grade kids practice putting five scrambled words in the correct order. Kids rearrange the words “for,” “the,” “stops,” “bus,” and “kids” to make “The bus stops for kids,” then write the completed sentence on the blank writing line. Afterward, they can draw a school bus, kids waiting for a bus, or another picture to match the sentence.

Five-word sentence scrambles help beginning readers practice word order, sentence structure, reading, and writing while working with familiar everyday situations. Kids need to think about how each word fits into the complete thought rather than simply reading the words one at a time. Drawing a matching picture gives them another way to show that they understand the sentence they built. This no-cut printable is easy to use for homeschool, kindergarten or first grade practice at home, summer learning, or extra sentence building and writing practice.
