Draw My Day: Finish the Sentence 02

This free printable daily writing worksheet encourages kindergarten and first grade children to expand a personal experience into a longer written thought. Children add the date, draw a place they went today, and then finish the sentence “Today I went to…” using details from their own day. They can simply name the place or continue writing to tell who went with them, what they did there, or another detail about the experience.

The sentence starter gives developing writers a clear way to begin while the additional writing space encourages them to add more information when they are ready. Drawing the experience first can help children remember details and organize what they want to say before writing. Use this free kindergarten and first grade draw-and-write journal worksheet for daily writing practice, homeschool, personal narrative activities, morning or end-of-day reflection, or an ongoing picture journal.
