Draw My Day: Finish the Sentence 03

This free printable daily writing worksheet helps kindergarten and first grade children record something they noticed during their day. Children add the date, draw something they saw today, and then finish the sentence “Today I saw…” using their picture and personal experience as inspiration. They can simply identify what they saw or expand their writing with details about where they saw it, what it looked like, or what happened.

The sentence starter gives developing writers an easy beginning while the open writing space allows children to make their response longer as their skills grow. Drawing first can help children recall details, build vocabulary, and organize an idea before writing about it. Use this free kindergarten and first grade draw-and-write worksheet for daily journaling, homeschool, observation writing, personal narrative practice, or creating an ongoing picture journal of everyday experiences.
