Draw & Write: Fill in the Blank – Everyday 16

This free printable draw-and-write worksheet lets Pre-K and kindergarten children choose their own answer within a familiar category. Children begin with the prompt to draw a snack, deciding for themselves what food they want to include. They then complete “I eat a ___.” with the specific word that names what they drew, such as an apple, cracker, cookie, or another snack.

Choosing the answer independently adds an extra vocabulary step to the activity. Children need to think of an example that fits the prompt, recall the word for it, and use that word to complete a meaningful sentence. Along with drawing and handwriting, this provides approachable practice with categorization, vocabulary, early spelling, and sentence completion. This free preschool and kindergarten worksheet can be used for homeschool, beginning writing practice, or literacy activities at home.
