Build the Sentence: 5 Words – Everyday 09

This free printable sentence building worksheet gives kindergarten and first grade kids practice putting five scrambled words in the correct order. Kids rearrange the words “I,” “log,” “the,” “jump,” and “over” to make “I jump over the log,” then write the completed sentence on the blank writing line. Afterward, they can draw a picture of someone jumping over a log or create their own outdoor scene to match the sentence.

Five-word sentence scrambles give beginning readers practice with word order, sentence structure, reading, and writing while introducing slightly longer ideas. This sentence helps kids see how words such as “over” can describe where an action happens in relation to something else. Drawing a matching picture gives them another way to think about and show the meaning of the sentence. This no-cut printable is easy to use for homeschool, kindergarten or first grade practice at home, summer learning, or extra sentence building and writing practice.
