This free printable read-and-draw worksheet asks kindergarten and first grade children to pay attention to a specific descriptive detail. After reading “A boy kicks the red ball.”, children draw a picture that matches the sentence, including both the action and the stated color of the ball.
Details such as color can change whether an illustration accurately represents what was read. By turning the sentence into a picture, children practice noticing descriptive words, understanding the complete sentence, and checking their own work against the text. This free reading comprehension worksheet offers a simple way to practice careful reading and visualization at home, during homeschool, or as additional kindergarten and first grade literacy practice.
