Read & Draw: Medium – Everyday 01

This free printable read-and-draw worksheet adds an extra detail for beginning readers to find and include in their picture. Children read “The frog jumps in the pond.” and draw a scene that matches the sentence. To show full understanding, their illustration should represent both the frog’s action and the pond where it takes place.

Longer sentences give kindergarten and first grade children practice noticing important details rather than focusing only on the main subject and action. Turning those details into a drawing provides a simple way to practice reading comprehension, visualization, and careful reading without requiring a written response. This free worksheet can be used for reading practice at home, homeschool lessons, or additional early literacy work.
