Practice reading for both action and location with this free printable worksheet for kindergarten and first grade. Children read “A cat sits on the chair.” and draw a picture that accurately represents the sentence. To show the complete meaning, the illustration should include a cat sitting on a chair rather than beside, under, or near it.
Words that describe position can make an important difference in sentence meaning. Turning the sentence into a picture gives children a visual way to practice noticing those relationships and checking that they understood what they read. This free read-and-draw worksheet can be used for reading comprehension practice at home, homeschool lessons, or additional kindergarten and first grade literacy work.
